All Of The Evo Announcements In One Small Package

If you did not watch Evo over the weekend, then you missed out on one hell of a tournament. You also missed out on some fighting game announcements. Don't worry though, I got your back.

For those who are too young to remember. Capcom dabbled in the 3D arena at one point with the game, Street Fighter EX. It wasn't very good, and its remembered for being very broken. It was developed by a company called "Arika". A Japanese developer who hasn't really worked on anything of note and never really got a game released in the US other than the EX series of Street Fighter games. Street Fighter EX had a lot of over the top characters in it, which is why a lot of people like the game. It was a very different type of Street Fighter game, more over the top. Fans for years have asked Capcom to put some of those unique characters in a Street Fighter game, but never could due to licensing issues.

Well, we don't have to wait for Capcom any more. Arika has announced an untitled fighting game project codenamed "Arika EX" which is bringing back all of the weird and unique Street Fighter EX characters.

"Arika EX" will be released in 2018, with nothing further being announced.

Moving on to some Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite news. We got a new character. Jedah was announced for MvCI over the weekend during an exhibition match between Capcom's Peter "Combofiend" Rosas and SPY|Filipino Champ. During the match, which showcased the actual fighting game mechanics more deeply, Combofiend decided to take Jedah out for a spin, much to the hype of the crowd and Filipino Champ himself.

Jedah made his first appearance in Vampire Savior 3\Dark Stalkers 3 and is the first non-female Dark Stalkers character to make an appearance in a Marvel Vs Capcom game. If you fast forward to 5:45 mark in the video, you will see Jedah in all of his glorious ways.

Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite will be released on September 19th.

Not to be out done, Bandai Namco announced a new fighter for their upcoming fighting game, DragonBall Fighters Z.

Future Trunks is going to be a playable fighter bringing the roster up to 7 with 2 additional characters to be announced on July 21. Bandai Namco also announced that you can sign up for the playable beta on July 26th. I am very hyped for Dragonball Fighters Z and I will most definitely be signing up for beta.

ArcSys had a few interesting announcements at Evo also. First one was a new character in BlazBlue CentralFiction. Jubei will be making his... her... its way into the game some time during the Summer of this year. To put it lightly, Judei is a sword wielding rabbit. Yeah... Just watch the trailer...

Kinda reminds me of the rabbit from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".

The second announcement was a new fighting game called "BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle".

It is a 2 on 2 cross over fighting game featuring characters from BlazBlue, Persona 4 Arena, Under Night In-Birth, and RWBY. I'm honestly expecting to see some Guilty Gear characters tossed in here at some point too. The only announce date we got was "2018". I'm not super big on anime fighters, but this does look interesting. The inclusion of the RWBY characters is really interesting to me. I really need to watch that show...

And now for the 2 big announcements.

The world of Tekken 7 is about to get a new character, and oh my f@#@ing god what a character.

Yes, Geese Howard is making his way into Tekken 7. I'm really hopping this is a set up to something much much bigger. Like a super cross over between Tekken, Street Fighter, and SNK. But for now, this is the closest we are gonna. He will be released during the Winter of this year.

Last but not least, Street Fighter 5 is getting a new character and a new arena.

Abigail hails from the Final Fight games and he's kind of a big boy isn't he? Capcom says he is over 8 feet tall, making him the tallest fighter to ever be released in the Street Fighter universe. His stage, Metro City Bay Area, is pulled straight from the Final Fight games. I'm not big on these huge fighters, not my play style, but he looks to be fun with his armored moves and I like his super move.

Season 2 pass is out now which includes Akuma, Kolin, and Ed It will also included Abigail and 2 unnamed fighters. Abigail and his stage will be released on July 25th.

That is all from me, for now. I will cover the rest of Evo later with my Evo Summery. This is James with Game Fix. Game on everybody!
