Does anybody remember that Assassin's Creed movie that was released way back in 2016? 

Yeah I didn't think so. The critics hammered the movie for just not being that good. One critic said it was "An over-cast video game movie" and another said "Assassin's Creed is a train-wreck that commits the cardinal sin of being boring on top of making no sense.".

Which is completely accurate. The movie has a lot of big names in it. Michael Fassbender is an Academy Award nominee, Marion Cotillard is an Academy Award winner, and it's got Jeremy freaking Irons in it.

The director, Justin Kurzel, has made a lot of amazing movies. In fact, Assassin's Creed is his lowest rated movie in his career. 

So two Academy Award (one winner, one nominee), a legend in the movie industry, and a director who has made highly rated movies. 

What went wrong? The writers. The writers were awful. The plot was thin, the characters were generic as all heck, and it didn't make any sense if you don't play the video games. Everything else about this movie was great, actors, setting, cinematography, action, everything.

With that said.   

The Assassin's Creed franchise is huge, with graphic novels, books, and yes - more video games. 

Disney has noticed this, and hey guess what? Disney now owns Fox who owned the rights to Assassin's Creed and according to a source close to "We Got This Covered", Disney is planning a reboot - from the ground up. New director, new writers, new actors, new story.

It's still really early, but according to sources, the House of Mouse sees potential in the franchise. This may be a full featured movie, or it maybe a Disney+ show. We just don't know yet. I personally would like to see a TV show made out of this. I think a show would work a lot better for something like Assassin's Creed than a movie would. There is just too much to explain for a 2 hour movie to tackle.
