With everything currently going on in the world, it's nice to see video game companies step up. Ubisoft has committed to donating $100,00 to Black Live Matters organizations. Square Enix will be donating $250,00, and Niantic has shattered all of that with their pledge of a minimum $5 million. A lot of the other bigger ones, not so much. A lot of others have not, or just did the bare minimum. Shout outs to Rockstar who just shut their servers down for 2 hours in honor of George Floyd and Steam for not acknowledging what happened but delaying their summer sale. Yeah.. good job there.

In steps itch.io.

itch.io is an open market place. Meaning, you can create a game and put it on itch.io for others to purchase. Every game is completely DRM free and the sales are split 50\50. Itch.io is a great place for wannabe developers to experiment with their games and for those who support DRM free products.

They have launched their largest bundle to date. The "Bundle For Racial Justice and Equality" features over 1500+ indie games from almost 2000 different creators for just 5 dollars. Yes, 5 bucks will get you over 1500 indie games.

The best part, every game featured in this bundle is 100% DRM free with a 50\50 split with developers. The other 50% goes to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Community Bail Fund

On their site they say;

We live in a time of racial injustice, inequality, and police brutality against black people. We hope that everyone takes a stand in any way that they can. We’ve partnered with creators from all across our platform to support organizations that are working directly with those affected. We reached out to our community and an unprecedented number of creators donated over 740 projects to be part of what we believe is the largest bundle ever. Over $3,400 of paid works are available Pay-what-you-want with a minimum donation amount of $5.

There are far too many games to list here, but some notables are; Celeste. Oxenfree, Night in the Woods, One Shot, and Super Win the Game. Oh and they are still going through submissions for this bundle, so this number could increase before the 4 days have ended.

Currently, itch.io has raised $4,898,789.23 of its $5 million dollar goal. They are at 97% towards their goal with over 459 thousand contributors.

Before the end of this, they will have shattered their 5 million dollar goal.

You still have 4 days left to contribute.
