We are 2 weeks away from Blizzcon 2019, so let the rumors commence!

Earlier in the Summer, a Blizzard employee said an upcoming StarCraft first person shooter was being cancelled. When asked why, this employee said that it was so Blizzard can move the team onto two other projects, and named Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 as those projects.

Overwatch 2 has been rumored for some time now, so no body really paid attention to this. Until a few days ago.

Twitch streamer Metro has come out with a bunch of new information. So let's dive into it.

It's going to be announced at this years Blizzcon - after the newest cinematic that will feature Mei, Tracer, Winston, and a younger (I'm assuming more human looking) Genji. During the final scene of this cinematic, the Overwatch logo will appear on screen followed by a "2".

As of right now, Metro doesn't know if its a whole new game, or just an expansion of the existing game. He does have other info though.

It's going to be a PvE and a PvP game. It will feature a "leveling system" that will affect how you can play your hero - think Battleborn. He doesn't know if the "leveling system" is just a PvE thing or if it also affects PvP. He did note that it's "gonna change certain abilities of the heroes in the game".

As mentioned, he doesn't know if it's a whole new game or an expansion, but he does say that "They might treat OW 2 as addon but change the entire branding to OW 2 for everything we have (right now).". Which is great, since people have spent millions on loot boxes. If they had to start all over again, there would be riots.

There will be no new hero announced at Blizzcon as the team is putting all of their resources into the new game. Which this part doesn't make sense to me since Jeff (Kaplan) has already confirmed that they have heroes done and waiting to be released.

I will also be curious as to how this affects the Overwatch League. While this season is done, they are already planning for season 3 next year. Are they going to move onto Overwatch 2? Or stay with the vanilla game?

Now this is just a rumor, so grain of salt. However, Metro did predict that Ashe was going to be announced 2 weeks before Blizzcon started last year.

I would also like to note that this isn't the first time we have heard about a rumored Overwatch 2. Jason Schreier over at Koaku also talked about this at length back in June of this year. You can read his article right here

Either way, with the possible announcement of Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 this could be a really great Blizzcon after the disappointment that was last years.

That's it for now. I will be back if anything else comes of this and I will be reporting all the rumors going into Blizzcon this year. So stay tuned to Game Fix and check out of podcast for all the newest rumors and goings on.
