Announced today on the official Overwatch league twitter account. The finals for season 1, held at the Barclay Center in New York, has sold out.

The venue holds 20,000 people and took a little less than 2 weeks to sell out. Ticket prices ranged from $74 to $198 dollars.

For a major Esport league, just starting out, this is major news. Especially considering that OWL viewership has been dropping as of late. It used to pull 100 to 120k views per day. Now it barely breaks 100k, with Saturday being the best viewing day at 120k.

The selling out also comes off the heels of Pete Vlastelica, Activision Blizzard Esports Leagues CEO, saying that he would like to add 6 more OWL teams at the start of Season 2. They have already began scouting for potential investors for these new teams. We have no idea how much it will cost to start a new team, but a leak in the beginning of season 1 stated that it takes an investment of 20 million dollars to get the team off of the ground. Since these are expansion teams for a league that is going head strong into season 2. I can imagine that number will be double.

If they do get their 6 new teams, that will bring the league number up to 18. Which should be enough to actually have division playoffs every stage, instead of just every season.

Lets hope they add more international teams and not just NA teams. Some possible places being brought up have been Berlin and Paris. Me personally, as much as I am done with NA teams. I would love to see a Canadian team. There is a lot of talented esports players in Canada, and its sad that they didn't get a team right from the beginning.

Thats it for now guys. What are your thoughts on this? OWL Season 1 finals selling out a good thing? What countries would you like to see get their own OWL team? Comment down below.
