It’s time to save your planet (again)! Yesterday Nintendo announced Pikmin 3 Deluxe is coming to the Nintendo Switch family on October 30, 2020.

Your home planet is suffering from famine and it’s up to the explorers you control to try and find a solution before it’s too late. Mix a crash-landing on a mysterious planet full of resources that can help you, puzzles, predators and strange, plant-like Pikmin creatures with their own abilities and you have Pikmin 3 Deluxe!

Deluxe game features

According to Nintendo, “Pikmin 3 Deluxe delivers a full suite of additions and enhancements, including the ability to play the whole Story mode in co-op with a friend, new side-story missions which can also be played in co-op and all the Mission mode DLC stages from the original game’s release.” 

“With new difficulty options, lock-on targeting, optional hints and the choice to play at a more relaxed pace, it’s easier than ever to join in on the Pikmin fun, enjoy the game’s beautiful scenery and get a taste of what this vibrant world has to offer.”

Re-releasing previous games

If you aren’t a fan of the franchise but Pikmin 3 sounds familiar already, that’s because it is. Pikmin 3 initially released in 2013 on the Nintendo Wii U, a system which fell drastically short of expectations. This isn’t the first time Nintendo has re-released games from the Wii U on to a newer system. Mario Kart 8 and New Super Mario Bros. U are among some of the Wii U games that were ported to the Nintendo Switch as “deluxe” editions with additional features.
