Despite everything that has gone on with Pokemon Sword and Shield, the newest games in the long standing franchise. The games went on to break sales records. Nintendo has reported that both games sold 6 million copies over its launch weekend making it the fastest selling Nintendo Switch game of all time and the highest-grossing launch Pokemon game of all time.

It sold more than 2 million copies in the US in its first 2 days of launch and over 1.36 million in Japan. Pokemon had a bigger launch than Super Smash Bros Ultimate in both the US and Japan. It also doubled the launch sales of the Let's Go titles released last year.

The game sold despite a lot of controversy. Earlier in November, a massive leak hit many social media sites like Reddit and 4Chan. It started with the evolution of the starters, then the entire Pokedex was leaked.

Fans were up in arms about the lack of many of their favorites. When Game Freak confirmed that there isn't a national Pokedex due to them working on new animations and with game play video showing other wise. The hashtag GameFreakLied started trending in the US and a boycott was called by many long time fans.

It seems that the numbers speak for them self though.

I'm currently playing Sword, and while I'm no hardcore fan of the series or anything. I'm having a lot of fun with it. The newest Pokemon are interesting and the story so far has been pretty decent. The new raid battles are fun and being able to walk around an open world and seeing other players is a good first step to finally giving us a Pokemon MMO that we have all wanted.

But who am I? Just a blogger who likes collecting Pikachu... so many Pikachu's...

As always, this has been James with Game Fix. Game on everybody!
