It appears that there may be a chance a brand new Contra game could be in development from Konami. This could be a very stunning development, as despite Konami making record profits five years in a row, their pipeline for new projects have been dry. Aside from Super Bomberman R, (an underrated game), Pro Evolution Soccer and Metal Gear Survive (a game I honestly have fun playing), Konami has made their revenue through eSports rather than game development. Take it for what it's worth, but that may be changing by the company potentially reviving a classic. Listings on the German retailer site, NetGames has Contra for 34.95eu (roughly $38 US)

This comes at a very fashionably late time, as I have dedicated May to Contra Month on my Retro Reboot!! sections (sorry for the cheap shameless plug), so this is music to my ears.

The past two months, Konami entertained the releases of their Arcade Classics and Castlevania Collections currently available on PS4, XBox One, and Nintendo Switch, perhaps this may be the as of yet Contra Collection. Just my speculation, so shoot the messenger, but the higher price than the retail $19.99 of the previous titles could be a solid indicator of it being a brand new project. I would like to see this company rekindle the enthusiasm of a rich library of classics like Gradius, Silent Hill, and Contra. It has taken some time, and it looks like that could be a goal in the works. In the meantime, I would love for this to come to fruition.
