Diablo 3 is back in the rumor mill. As I reported last week, Diablo is the first game set to have a panel at Blizzcon this year. Blizzard has stated that they have announcements, and I talked about an animated series that was leaked via Twitter.

Now, the rumor going around is that Blizzard is in talks with Sony, Nintendo, and MS to make Diablo 3 cross-play.

In an interview with Business Insider Australia, a Blizzard representative said; "actively working with partners at Sony and Microsoft to enable cross-console play with 'Diablo 3' on Switch.".

While PC isn't mentioned at all, they did continue on to say that "it's a question of when, not if."

Sony has recently taken a step back from their stance against cross-play, allowing it with Fortnite. If Diablo 3 is added to this list, this could be huge for the Switch release. Allowing people to bring their characters back and forth between the consoles, and even being able to team up with friends on different platforms. While Diablo 3 is still going strong on the PC, its kind of dead on the consoles, minus a few dedicated players. Adding cross-play will allow these little communities to form a bigger community of players, thus giving life to a game that is on its death bed.

With the Nintendo Switch version schedule to release the day of Blizzcon (Nov. 2nd), could this be one of several Diablo related announcements? The ability to cross-play between those platforms, and on day 1 of the Switch release?

I am excited.

What about you guys? Does this interest you at all? What else could we potentiate see from this new era of cross-play games? Maybe Overwatch will be next?
