Rumor: Is A Castlevania Collection On Its Way? *Updated*

Story has been updated. Look below for update.

Gotta love Korea.

Once again the Game Rating and Administration Committee - the Korean version of the ESRB here in the states - has a new listing up for a Castlevania Collection on the PS4. Titled Castlevania Requiem, the collection features Castlevania Symphony of the Night and Castlevania Rondo of Blood

Rondo of Blood was originally released for the PC Engine Super CD (TG16) in 1993 in Japan. It was on the best CD title that was released. It even got "best Japanese Action Game" in 1994. It didn't see a US release until 1995 on the SNES under the name Castlevania: Dracula X. The "remake" was terrible, and went down as one of the worst Castlevania games ever released (til that point). Years later it got a better port on the PSP and even the Wii via the Wii-Ware online service. Both of those versions retained the original story line, level design, and alternate paths from the original.

While a great game, it was noted as being our first introduction to Richter Belmont.

The other game in the collection is a little title called Symphony of the Night. Its my personal favorite Castlevania title and it coined the term "Metriodvania". It stared Alucard as he is tasked with figuring out why Dracula's castle has risen and where the heck Richter went too.

In a nice little nod, the opening scene to Symphony of the Night is actually the ending part to Rondo of Blood. So Symphony acts as sort of a sequel in a sense to Rondo.

The title is listed for just the PS4. No other platform is listed (please come to PC) on the Korea certification.

The GRAC listed this game last week, why is it all of a sudden in the news today? Well my friend, less than a week after the Korean board listed it, the ESRB has followed suit with a rating of their own. They rated the game T (teen). The page also confirms that this is just coming to the PS4 as, like the Korean board, no other  systems are listed (curses!!!).

Konami has yet to officially announce the game. It shouldn't take long now as its already leaked online and has the ESRB rating in place. I will update this as soon as its officially announced.

I guess I'm going to have to turn on my PS4..

Now I ask you. Are you excited for this collection? Have you played either of the games before or will this be your first time?

Let us know in the comments below.

*UPDATE* Konami has officially announced it and released a trailer.

It appears that it is only for the PS4 and its digital only. Lets hope they do this with more of their titles or at the very least, release it for all major consoles.

And as always, this has been James with Game Fix. Game on everybody!
