Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn released in 2013, after a terrible launch of the original Final Fantasy 14 Online in 2010. 

A Realm Reborn has come a long way since those days. With 2 major expansions and its estimated 10 million player base, it continues to trade places with Blizzard's World of Warcraft as the most played sub based MMO. 

During E3, web site VGR sat down with Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida. During the discussion, Yoshida confirmed that they are currently talking about bringing Final Fantasy 14 to both the Nintendo Switch and the X-Box 1. 

While we know that discussions are already happening about other platforms, I wanted to know if there was any update that Yoshida could give us. He noted that they want “as many to play as possible.” Discussions are still “ongoing” with all three publishers – Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo – to see if the game can come to Xbox One and Switch with cross-play with the PC and PS4 versions. Yoshida noted he “hopes to announce something as soon as we can.”

The way I take it, they do not want to release the game on any other platform if they cannot allow it to have crossplay with all platforms. Including the PS4. 

I think FF14 would do great on the Switch platform. 

To shed some light on this whole situation, former head of Sony Online Entertainment and current head of Amazon Gaming Studios, John Smedley come in to shed some light on this. 

In a now deleted tweet, John called on fans to pressure Sony while also adding. 

btw when I was at Sony, the stated reason internally for this was money. They didn't like someone buying something on an Xbox and it being used on a Playstation. simple as that. dumb reason, but there it is.

We kind of figured this was the reason. But this whole "account locking" thing has finally put this on the forefront. With more and more pressure being added to Sony, its finally starting to show. Sony stocks have fallen 2% since E3. While this could be just normal stock stuff, I do not believe it is. I believe the pressure is finally getting to them. With more and more PS4 fans displaying outrage, Sony now needs to either change their stance on this, or lose their fan base. 

Sony is showing that they do not care about multiplayer gamers. So lets so them that we do no care about them.
