SNK Mascot and Fatal Fury Hero Terry Bogard Joins Smash Bros Ultimate

During September 4th's Nintendo Direct, it had been revealed that fighting game icon Terry Bogard will join the Smash Bros Ultimate roster sometime in November. Terry Bogard is the protagonist of the fighting game series Fatal Fury, which butted heads with Capcom's Street Fighter II in the early 90's. Terry joins Persona 5's Joker and Dragon Quest XI's Hero in a continuously growing list of fighters to the already gigantic roster.

Terry has been the face of the SNK brand since the 90's, and the Fatal Fury series has spanned 11 games from 1991 to 1999, with the final entry concluding the series being Garou: Mark of the Wolves, which has the reputation for being one of the finest and most savvy 2D fighting games of the last millenium. Terry is also featured in SNK's long-running franchise, King of Fighters. While bankruptcy and poor management decisions nearly put SNK on the brink of extinction, new ownership under Chinese company Leyou Technologies Holdings has seen a restoration of the brand. Its recent releases Samurai Shodown and SNK Heroines have been met with warm reception, and many characters from SNK's franchises have guest starred in many other fighting games, like Dead or Alive 6 (Mai Shiranui and Kula Diamond), Fighting EX Layer (Terry Bogard), Million Arthur Arcana Blood (Iori Yagami), Tekken 7 (Geese Howard), and Soul Calibur VI (Haohmaru).

Nintendo said expect the unexpected when it comes to Smash DLC. Joker was surprising and this is just amazing.
