Among all the corona virus news the smoke [somewhat] clears as Sony finally reveals the specs of the elusive PlayStation 5. Today Sony had a 55 minute reveal video that shed some light on what they have been working on. As excited as we all should be, the biggest takeaway of the reveal is the solid state drive(SSD), it will dramatically reduce load times for all video games, which Microsoft's Xbox Series X will also have. The SSD and the GPU are the two areas that differ the most between the two consoles. Sony has elected for a custom AMD RDNA 2-based GPU inside the PS5, which provides 10.28 teraflops of power with 36 compute units running at 2.23GHz each. Microsoft went with a custom AMD RDNA 2-based GPU for the Xbox Series X, but it can hit 12 teraflops of power with 52 compute units at 1.825GHz each. Yikes, I get that seems like a lot of weird mumbo-jumbo, but it is the most important part of each console.

The part that was a little odd is the internal storage in the PS5 has 885 GBs where the Xbox Series X is rocking 1TB. While the Xbox looks better in that aspect, both console have expandable hard drive capabilities.

Nothing yet as far as the look of the PS5 console or controllers but we can only speculate that that info will show up sooner rather than later. However they did bring up that the PSVR is upgraded dramatically but not a lot of information was given as of now.

Also no release date or price was given for the PS5 but the Xbox Series X has given us a time, they say it's coming Thanksgiving 2020. So here we go, keep listening to the Game Fix Podcast for all updates and of course opinions on the next-gen consoles.
