The Nintendo World Championships are BACK!

Sure, we currently criticize Nintendo on almost everything they do. However, not on everything they've DONE.

We've grown up with Nintendo and without them our childhoods would have been way different. Video games would be way different.

So it excites me to see that the Nintendo World Championships are back. It's been a couple of years, but it's still good to see tournaments going on that aren't the typical eSports that we're used to. Dabbling in retro and current titles, this tournament has always reminded me of that Fred Savage movie, The Wizard. Qualifying events are being held at 8 US Best Buys beginning August 19th.

So you think you have what it takes to be a Nintendo champion? Here are the full details:

Starting on Aug. 19, select Best Buy stores around the country will host qualifying events in eight locations around the country. Players will be divided into two groups based on their age, and both groups will play Mario Kart 7 for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. The first age group, 12 and Younger, will play as Mario on the Nintendo DS “Luigi’s Mansion” course using Standard Kart, Standard Wheels and Super Glider. The second age group, 13 and Older, will play as Bowser on the Game Boy Advance “Bowser Castle 1” course using Standard Kart, Standard Wheels and Super Glider. The player with the best Time Trial entry in each age group at the end of the two-day event at each location will qualify for the Nintendo World Championships 2017!

I love you and GO GET 'EM!
