The poor Wii U has been abandoned, there's no reason to mince words about it. Nintendo's worst selling console (Virtual Boy notwithstanding) was declared dead on arrival once the Switch replaced it in 2017 and went on to become a very fast and high demand seller. The last major first party release the Wii U would see is Legend Of Zelda Breath of the Wild, the platform it was originally built for. 

What if I told you that a new horror game was making its way to the Wii U's eShop in 2022? Despite being discontinued, there are some games that make their way onto that Gamepad, and it looks like at least its digital storefront is rather alive! Silver Falls: White Inside Its Umbra is a new game in the Silver Falls series from Sungrand Studios.

According to the team's Twitter account, Silver Falls: White Inside Its Umbra is built exclusively for the Wii U, relying on architecture unique to the Gamepad's motion controls for functionality. It will also be compatible with the Wii nunchuk and remote combo, along with (and this is certainly a blast from the recent past) the Wii Balance Board for controls, giving Silver Falls three different control options.

The Silver Falls series is a horror/action series that tells the tales of strange events in a small mountain town due to UFOs. It has been ported to Nintendo platforms such as the 3DS and the Switch, as well as the PSVita, Anbernic handhelds, and Android mobile devices. The last new game the Wii U saw was Captain U, a platform game that's a heartfelt homage to the console in late 2021.

Wii U fans have a reason to dust off their system later this year. I'm certainly go to.
