This news comes by way of Entertainment Weekly, as Bruce Campbell, while promoting the Peacock exclusive series Hysteria. The actor stated that he may have retired portraying Ash Williams in live action, with Ash vs Evil dead television series not seeing a fourth season from Starz, but he will be involved in some upcoming animated features providing the voice.
"We are developing an animated version, like a series," he stated. "I'll do that. I'll do Ash's voice all day long, because my voice hasn't aged as much as I have."
Following in the powerful cult fanbase the Evil Dead series has gained in the last few decades, the ere two more movies in the works. The last two (Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead in 2013 and Lee Cronin's Evil Dead Rise in 2023) were both critically well received and left solid box office gains.
"The funny thing is, the Evil Dead movies, the last one made $140 million, and the Evil Dead movies don't usually make that much money," he continues. "They're cheap, so they don't have to make that much — but now that they're making real money, it's kinda hard to look away. And we want to do it — the last one was 10 years ago, Fede [Álvarez’s reboot] was 2013! So we want to get a little more of a pipeline for folks who still follow it, who want to see it. They want to see it in the new incarnation!"
