A familiar, and welcoming, presence has made a return to Blizzard Entertainment. Chris Metzen, veteran game designer and a legend among the community, has been confirmed to make a comeback to assist with expanding the ever growing lore of World of Warcraft. The news was brought to by Blizzard General Manager John Hight via Twitter.
"It's with great joy that I announce Chris Metzen has joined the Warcraft Leadership team as Creative Advisor. Chris's focus will initially be on World of Warcraft, then his work will expand to other projects across this growing franchise.
Chris was one of the original team members working on the Warcraft universe back when it began in 1994, and we're happy to be reuniting him with the world he helped create."
Metzen began his career at Blizzard, hired as an artist and animator. His first project with the company was Justice League: Task Force, which has been featured here on Game Fix as a part of the Retro Reboot reviews. Metzen is also credited with work on the Diablo series, StarCraft, and is the voice of Overwatch's Bastion.
In 2016, Chris Metzen stepped away after 23 years with Blizzard Entertainment. A fan of Dungeons & Dragons, Metzen's art style is cited as being heavily influenced by pen legend Jim Lee and Walt Simonson.
World of Warcraft Dragonflight, the latest expansion, was released back in November.
