With the 20th Century Fox acquisition all said and done. Disney is now trying to a balance between their current movie releases and those of Fox.

Fox had 276 movies in development - Not counting the movies set to be released soon (Terminator: Dark Fate). Disney just canceled a majority of them.... as in all of them but a dozen or so.

Here is a list of some of the notable movies now cancelled by Disney.

  • Assassin's Creed 2: Follow up to the lackluster "Assassin's Creed" released in 2016 and starred Michael Fassbender.
  • The Boogeyman: Based on the Stephen King short story.
  • Chronicle 2: Sequel to the 2012 genre-bending film that was part superhero movie and part found footage horror.
  • Flash Gordon: Remake of the 1980s movie based on a serial from the 30's. The remake was rumored to have been directed by "Thor: Ragnarok" director Taika Waititi.
  • League of Extraordinary Gentleman: Remake of the disappointing 2003 movie.
  • Magic: The Gathering movie: However NetFlix is still planning on doing a TV series based on the popular CCG.
  • Hitman 2: Sequel to the 2007 movie starring Timothy Olyphant.
  • Mega Man: Based on the popular Capcom franchise. Henry Joost & Ariel Schulman were rumored to be the writers.
  • McClane: Origin story of John McClane from the Die Hard franchise. Len Wiseman (2012 Total Recall) was set to direct.
  • The Sims: Adaption of the EA published video game franchise.
  • Untitled "Sandlot" Prequel. Nothing is known about this.
  • Bob's Burgers: The Movie: Based on the TV series. This movie isn't out right cancelled as of now.

The reason for the sudden cancellation of protects? Well Disney has been having a little issue with their stock prices as of late. As in, they are tanking. Disney also posted a $170 million operating loss last quarter - this loss was blamed on their acquisition of Fox which hasn't been preforming well.

Chief executive officer of Disney Bob Iger told Variety;

One of the biggest issues was the Fox studio performance which was well below where it had been and well below where we hoped it would be when we made the acquisition,

It's not all bad though. Iger told Wall Street analysts that all of Fox's superhero titles will now be under Kevin Feigi and that Disney's new streaming platform - Disney+ - will be getting four big brands from Fox; "Home Alone", "Night of the Museum", "Cheaper by the Dozen", and "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" will all be featured on Disney+ when it launches later this year. The sequels to James Cameron's "Avatar" and a continuation of the "Planet of the Apes" franchise will proceed as well (Note: There is no Planet of the Apes movie currently in development). "The New Mutants" is also still set to premier on Hulu in 2020 and will star Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones).

The movies I out lined above are just the tip of the ice berg. If you want to see the entire list you can read it right here. While some of these movies I understand, since there is going to be adaptions on other platforms (Magic the Gathering). There is still a ton of movies that were original and from some notable Hollywood people. There are movies from Ben Affleck, Jason Segel, and Jim Carrey on the list. I hope another studio picks them up or Disney goes through and makes them. Some of them seem like they could be fairly interesting.

That's all for now. This has been James with Game Fix. Game on everybody!
