“Respawn is working hard to bring the final chapter of this thrilling story to players.”
Respawn Entertainment's solo Star Wars action games have seen positive critical reception since the release of 2019's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Electronic Arts has confirmed that the third and final game in Padawan Cal Kestis' journey is in the works. In 2023, the game's director at the time Stig Asmussen had intended for the series to be a trilogy, with the third game potentially running on Unreal Engine 5. Asmussen left Respawn the same year to form his own studio, Giant Skull.
According to Video Games Chronicle, EA's President of Technology and Entertainment Laura Miele mentioned the project in development during an investor relations presentation on Tuesday. "We have delivered some of the highest quality and best-selling Star Wars games of all time," she stated. "This impressive track record includes [of course] the Star Wars Jedi games, where over 40 million Star Wars fans have connected with Cal Kestis and his arc of becoming a powerful Jedi. Respawn is working hard to bring the final chapter of this thrilling story to players."
In April and May of 2023, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor was the most downloaded game on the US and European PlayStation Stores.
