While it seems the NES and SNES libraries have taken a backseat to their digital libraries, a new entry to the Nintendo Switch Online Service + Expansion Pack is adding another classic platformer to its Nintendo 64 lineup. Coming May 20th, subscribers will have access to Kirby & The Crystal Shards.
Originally released in 2000 and developed by HAL Laboratories, Kirby 64 is the first game in the series to incorporate 3D graphics. While it's rendered in 3D, it still retains the same side-scrolling gameplay of previous Kirby titles. During its development, Kirby 64 was intended to have full 3D roaming and was to utilize the failed N64DD add-on for the console, but the idea was scrapped.
