GameStop Leak Confirms Final Fantasy VII Remake Coming to Xbox One?

When the initial teaser trailer for the long anticipated Final Fantasy Remake aired at E3 in 2015, it seemed to be widely assumed that it would be a Playstation exclusive. Marketing and advertising also seemed to dictate the notion the this game was destined for only the PS4. Until its release on the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One last March, the Playstation was always the console home for FFVII, unofficially becoming a game that defined the original Playstation and one of the most influential and popular Japanese role-playing games of the era.

According to GameStop Ireland, there's a listing for Final Fantasy VII Remake preorders on their web page.

Whether or not this was a gaffe from an office worker, no official statement has been given on how legit this may be. Kingdom Hearts III saw an XBox One port. That was a series that previously never had a home on Microsoft's consoles, so I wouldn't be too particularly shocked if FFVII Remake saw a multiplatform console release. Not that correlation is causation in this instance.

With E3 2019 a week away and Playstation with no booth held at the event this year, this could be a bountiful announcement for Microsoft. A release date is also projected to be 2020, as strongly speculated by game journalist Jason Schreier.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake revisions FFVII's play style to a more action oriented focus from the turn-based nature of the original and will be sold in episodic chapters. I anticipate more details will be revealed on that at a later date.
