Ghostwire: Tokyo New Delay Pushes PS5 Exclusive To 2022

Details surrounding the PlayStation 5 timed exclusive Ghostwire: Tokyo have remained rather shrouded in mystery regarding the game's details, and when information is provided, the team has held their cards very close to their chest. Its initial release was never really disclosed, but Tango Gameworks had a 2021 street date likely in mind, in wake of the coronavirus leaving skeleton crews in an arduous task to keep production and programming at a reasonable pace.

As the world attempts to reorient itself into normalcy, variants of Covid-19 continue to cause complications as cases rise, and Tango Gameworks isn't taking chances with putting staff at risk. They clarified in a statement on Twitter:

"We've made the decision to delay the launch of Ghostwire: Tokyo to early 2022. We want to get the game in your hands as soon as possible so you can experience and unforgettable version of a haunted Tokyo that we've been hard at work building. At the same time, we're also focused on protecting the health of everyone at Tango. Our new release window will give us time to bring the world of Ghostwire to life as we've always envisioned it.

We thank you for being patient as we work to bring you an experience unlike anything else we've ever made. We can't wait to show you more in the coming months."

There was a good chance that something may have been up when Ghostwire: Tokyo was absent at Bethesda's E3 event. As a part of the partnership of Bethesda fulfilling its commitments prior to Microsoft's purchase of ZeniMax, the horror-themed action game will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive for a year before arriving on Xbox platforms.
