Konami Ready To Unveil A Revival To Castlevania, Silent Hill, & Metal Gear

Most of the coverage from Konami over the last few months have been strong speculation or rumors, though in recent weeks more details confirmed that they have shown ambition in returning to more mainstream game development. Over the last decade, Konami earned a lot of their revenue through pachinko machines and using the likeness of their intellectual properties to promote those, much to the chagrin of longtime fans.

After the critically panned Metal Gear Survive (2018) and 2019's Contra Rogue Corps (which wasn't too bad, just underdeveloped in a few areas), Konami held a lot of their cards close to their chest and slowly experimenting with anniversary collection distributions while keeping a lot of their projects very quiet. They opted to skip 2021's E3 digital event to further tune up and prepare for a proper showcase, but they did announce a revival of Getsu Fuuma Den, developing a sequel to a long dormant IP, that is set for an early 2022 release. That day looks like it's coming closer, some of this I suggested Konami do in my very first article here on Game Fix talking about how they can make a comeback.

These revivals are spearheaded by an effort to outsource development to third party Multiple Silent Hill games are in the works, one involving The Medium developer Bloober Team. One of the rumors include a revision of Castlevania that is reported to be in the same vein as From Software's Dark Souls series. Metal Gear Solid is reported to be in the works by Virtuos Studios, who has developed ports of games to the Nintendo Switch like The Outer Worlds and The Spyro Re-ignited Trilogy. Story-wise, the game is allegedly going to be based on the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater lore.

With Konami outsourcing their works with Silent Hill into Dead By Daylight and their recent partnerships with western stuidos to publish and aid in producing independent games like Skelattack, the company has shown greater ambition towards working their way back into an earnest effort for game development and distribution.
