After a seemingly quiet rollout exclusively in Canada September 2019 for iOS and Android devices, Konami shut down and discontinued the action/adventure game Castlevania: Grimoire Of Souls just a year later after player support for it was considered very low. Reports on Reddit indicated that the multiplayer was "lackluster". It had failed to generate revenue, though the reason given by Japanese representatives was "various circumstances". 

It looks like the mobile game is getting a second lease on life, as it now has a listing on the Apple Arcade site as "COMING SOON". Perhaps the producers at Konami have taken a look at the feedback about the hollow, bare bones solo and multiplayer campaigns and retooled them into something more substantive. 

Grimoire Of Souls does look like a lot of fun. with 60+ levels and the ability to unlock characters like Simon Belmont, Charlotte, Shanoa, Maria It's too bad that something this entertaining is resorted to only being a mobile game. 2014's Castlevania Lords Of Shadow 2, produced by MercurySteam, was the last entry on console, not including the Castlevania Anniversary Collection. 

Konami most recently pulled out of E3's 2021 digital event to be more prepared for a thorough rollout of the projects they have been working on. Many rumors and hints from insiders of a new Silent Hill (be it a new game or a remaster), Metal Gear (a possible Solid remaster). Along with a relaunch of an old IP in Getsu Fuma Den, there could be a possible mainline Castlevania entry, or at least one could hope. Behind the scenes, it looks like Konami's games division has been busy and the cards are held close to their chest. In the age of leaks, it's surprising little has come out beyond hints, cryptic messages, and rumors. I'd love a new Castlevania.
