Latest Super Mario Bros. Movie Commercial Hits Right In The Nostalgia

For what it's worth, between the mild "controversy" regarding the voice work, the advertising for Illumination's upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie has been nothing short of impressive. The newest trailer is an indicator that the publishing and editing team is on the nose about the marketing, with a commercial for the Super Mario Bros. Plumbing that uses a very familiar theme song for the jingle.

For anyone that grew up in the 1980's, they may have watched the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, a variety program that blended live action skits that seldom, if at all, had anything to do with the plot of the episode.

Starring Lou Albano and Danny Wells, who portrays Mario and Luigi respectively in both the live action bits and the cartoon, the Super Show ran for one season (totaling 65 episodes) on syndicated television, with Fridays dedicated to a new episode of the Legend of Zelda series (Yeah, Nintendo ruled the world in the late 80's). As an added bonus for anyone with a trained ear, you can hear Jeannie Elias, who voiced Princess toadstool, as the voice-over.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie hits theaters nationwide April 7, 2023.
