The game of chicken is finally over, and MS strikes the first big blow in the next-gen war.

After much speculation, we have a price confirmation for the Xbox Series X and a launch date.

Both the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S will launch Nov. 10th of this year. The Series S will launch at $299 and the Series X will launch at $499. MS has also confirmed that the only huge difference between the Series S and the Series X consoles are the GPU's. The Xbox Series S is of course the all digital version of the Series X that will be able to run games at 1440p with a minimum of 60 frames per second where the big brother will support 4k at 60 frames per second.

You will be able to pre-order either (or both if you're into that) consoles Sept 22nd.

Because MS has confirmed their release dates, Ubisoft has pushed forward the release date for Assassin's Creed Valhalla a week. It is now a launch title for the Xbox Series X\S console. Other launch titles you can expect are; Gears Tactics, Dirt 5, and Watch_Dogs Legion. I know it doesn't really sound like a lot, but both consoles are also backward compatible with over a thousand games from the original Xbox, the Xbox 360, and even the XBox 1.

If one lump sum of 500 bucks makes you cringe. Have no fear! Microsoft is also doing a monthly payment plan for both the Series S and Series X consoles. The Xbox All Access program will allow you to break up that lump sum into smaller monthly payments. The Series X will run you $35 a month and the Series S will run you $25 a month. Both options include two years of Game Pass Ultimate - which now includes an EA Play membership.

The Xbox Youtube channel posted a break down of the Series S console, for those who care about specs. Jason Ronald, direct of program management for Xbox, and owner of one glorious beard, breaks down the specs for the Series S and the differences between the Series X and the Series S.

I would say that the ball is now firmly in Sony's hands. Rumor has it that Sony was supposed to announce today, their price and release date for the PS5 since today is the 25th anniversary of the Playstation 1's North American launch date. It seems as though Microsoft has taken and ran. Phil Spencer did admit on Twitter that this announcement was a week early because of a leak contributed by Widows Central.

The next week or so is going to be interesting for sure.

Pretty sure xbox will gain more market share with this plan. Won't disrupt ps5 but definitely sony will feel it.

Oh god yes, this is very good for MS and at that price point for next gen? And with backwards compatibility? MS is going to come out swinging.
