Exclusives for the Xbox Series X on its launch are getting a little thinner. Bloober Team announced on their Twitter on November 6th that several major issues put the staff in a precarious situation to hold off release of the psychological horror-themed title The Medium from a December 10 2020 street date to January 28 2021. 

"After careful thought and consideration, today we have made the difficult decision to delay the launch of The Medium to January 28, 2021," Bloober Team said in their message. "This wasn't an easy choice to make, but one made due to the Covid-19 situation in Poland, as well as the current schedule of other games on the market. Bloober Team remains committed to delivering our biggest, most ambitious, fear-inducing, experience to date. The additional development time will allow us to add further polish, ensuring we deliver our innovative, genre-pushing vision of interactive psychological horror. Rest assured, the delay will not stop us sharing information with you. And you can expect us to unravel a few more layers of The Medium's great mystery soon."

A delay is always unfortunate, but the postponement is only a shade over a month past its initial date, which is more informative than the indefinite state of Halo Infinite. Day one Xbox Series X titles still include games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Dirt 5, the controversial NBA 2K21, and Bright Memory, whose full version Bright Memory: Infinite, is due in 2021.

Since the Series X|S's roadmap is to play the long game and have a more robust lineup of titles in the months and years to come from the studios they've acquired in recent months and over the last two years. In the meantime, Microsoft's Game Pass and backward compatibility does not lock fans from enjoying their previously owned Xbox library. Welcome to console launches in a pandemic world, folks.
