Disney announced today that their hit original show The Mandalorian will be returning - sooner than anybody expected.

October 2020 is when season 2 will kick off.

Robert Iger, Walt Disney CEO made the announcement today during a Disney earnings call. He also made some other announcements that are interesting.

We caught a glimpse of them during the Super Bowl, but the new Disney+ MCU TV shows didn't have an official release date, until today.

August of this year will see the release of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier with WandaVision releasing in December of this year. WandaVision was originally scheduled for sometime in 2021, but was pushed forward.

Still no word on Loki, but we did get a little (very little) look at it during the Super Bowl ad this past Sunday.

Disney+ has been a little stagnate lately with its original content, something that Iger mentioned in the earnings call. He wants more quality and not quantity. I don't know how this is going to work in the long run for them, since Netflix pumps out original content all the time it seems. Yes, some of it is bad, but a lot of it is good.

With more original content on the horizon for Disney+, maybe they can get a schedule of releases working for them.

In just 3 months of being live, Disney+ has amassed 28.6 million subscribers. It has grown substantially since its launch, but it's still no where near the 158 million that Netflix currently has.

Time will only tell.
