Mortal Kombat 12 'Confirmed' For 2023 Release During Warner Bros. Conference Call

Updated 2-25-23 to include video

While a Mortal Kombat 12 was one of the worst kept secrets in the gaming industry, and there has yet to be a formal announcement, it more has been a matter of WHEN. With other fighting game heavyweights like Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 rolling out trailers at regular intervals for their upcoming modern generation releases, it's been fairly quiet on the NeatherRealm Studios front.

In perhaps one of the more underwhelming reveals, details about MK12 were made in unceremonious fashion during an earnings call. The information slipped as WB Discovery Executive Vice President of global investor strategy Andrew Slabin was speaking about future projections.

“And there’s lots more to come", Slabin states, "including the highly-anticipated Mortal Kombat 12 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, games also set for release this year with ambitious launch projections”.

NeatherRealm has certainly held their cards very close to the chest throughout Mortal Kombat 12's development, which probably began roughly after the end of MK11's production cycle. Fans had petitioned and asked for the creative blessing to bring the fan-made Mortal Kombat Trilogy HD Remake, but never came to fruition. Perhaps due to finalizing the merger, Warner Bros. Discovery missed out on Mortal Kombat's 30th anniversary. Maybe an official trailer close to the middle part of the second quarter will whet fans' anticipation. Platforms likely to be revealed as well.
