I am a huge Kingdom Hearts fan, in fact. One of my first articles on this site was about Kingdom Hearts. May 11th of 2017 was the first ever post I did for Game Fix. It was my love of Kingdom Hearts.

While Kingdom Hearts 3 disappointed me, I still love the first one and I have always wanted a PC release.

Today, my dream was answered.

During a showcase today, Epic Games ran a trailer for the Kingdom Hearts series.

Set to release March 30th, for the first time ever, we will be getting the Kingdom Hearts series on PC.

  • Kingdom Hearts HD I.5 + II.5 Remix
  • Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory
  • Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue
  • Kingdom Hearts 3 + Re Mind DLC

First, Kingdom Hearts 1 + 2 has been out for 3 years now. You can currently get this game for like 20 bucks on the PS4. It's going to be $50 on the PC. These games will be ports of the PS3 version. They want us to spend $50 for PS3 ports.

You can currently get the "All-In-One" version for $30 bucks on Amazon, which comes with every thing listed, except for Melody of Memory and the Re Mind DLC for KH3. The Re Mind DLC is $30.

"All-In-One" isn't coming to PC, you are forced to buy every single one of these games individually. To experience Sora's entire story on PC. It's going to cost you 170 bucks. Or, you can play this entire series on the PS4 for 60 (All-In-One + Re Mind DLC). You choose.

Two, this being an Epic Store exclusive. This is an awful decision by Square. Square games have been very successful on Steam. The move to Epic - along with the prices - tell me that Square is looking to milk the heck out of the PC fan base before bringing them over to Steam, which you know is going to happen. These games are going to sell terribly on Epic, mostly because of the price point, which is either going to make Square second guess a Steam release, or just give up on the PC entirely.

Square has been dipping their toes in PC gaming for awhile now. It wasn't too long ago we got 4 Final Fantasy games, that all sold well on Steam. I mean we even got Dragon Quest 11 on PC. I think their decision to change the store front to Epic, and the price of these releases. It's going to stop the momentum that Square has been building on PC.

This is going to have dire consequences for Square games on the PC platform going forward.

I personally am very torn. I am really happy that these games are finally coming to PC. However, with the price and them being Epic Store exclusives. I just can't be bothered.

As always, this has been James with Game Fix. Game on everybody!
