Ok, we talked about the Ataribox on the podcast a few weeks ago and me and Verlane were very optimistic. Well, now I'm not so much. Recently in an interview with GamesBeat, Ataribox creator and general manager Feargal Mac said that Atari will begin a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo this fall and launch the Ataribox in the spring of 2018.

The Ataribox will run Linux OS and have an AMD custom processor with Radeon graphics. It is capable of running apps, streaming games, playing music, and surfing the net. Now the number you are all waiting for, the box will be between released for $250-$300, but not any less than $250. Hmmm...I was expecting this thing to be between $150-$200, this doesn't bode well for me. On top of that this console will only run mid-range PC games. Wait wait wait...so Atari is making a console that is not as powerful as the first Xbox One or the PS4. WTF are they thinking?!?

I will be waiting to see the Indiegogo campaign and what else goes in this console. So far, other than the look of the console, which is cool looking, not really impressed. C'mon Atari, sell me on this!
