It has been 2 years since the last Nintendo Direct. We have had smaller directs that focused on individual games, but never a company wide direct.

What did Nintendo bring after this long wait? Let's dive in while I show case the most exciting!

New Smash Character

The newest Super Smash Bros Ultimate character was announced, and unfortunately for me, it wasn't Shantae.

Prya and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be the newest characters to enter the battle!

Mario Hits The Greens

That's right! Mario Gold is back! This is such a great game and this is the first time it will be on the Nintendo Switch. With new characters, new modes, and new challenges.

Return of the Mii's

That's right, the cute customizable role-playing game is getting a Nintendo Switch release this May. This is a port of the 3DS version that was released in 2017. Just like the original, you can create your own Mii - with a few new options - and set that Mii out on his own RPG adventure!

New Square RPG

Ok, the title kinda sucks. Thankfully it's a working title, but this is a new tactical role-playing game by Square. In a game full of choices, with each choice having a consequence. Every decision you make can impact the events of the game. There is currently a demo on the eShop. Personally, it took me a little over 6 hours to complete. There is 2 battles, and a lot of story content.

Monster Hunter Rise New Trailer

Monster Hunter got a new trailer. I am not a huge fan of this series, but it's been going on forever now.

New IP: Neon White

In this very stylized FPS platformer, you play an assassin for Heaven whose job it is to exterminate demons. This game looks very fast paced and uses a card system.

A New Star Wars Game

Star Wars Hunters is a new free-to-play, squad-based multiplayer online game by Zynga. This game bridged the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

Fall Guys Is Coming To Switch

Fall Guys is also getting and Xbox release too. You know this game. Super big hit last year.

First Time In The US

These are classic Nintendo titles that never left Japan. Both are very well done visual novel style games, updated for the Nintendo Switch.

There is a lot of remakes coming to the Switch, Ninja Gaiden, Legend of Mana, SaGa Frontier Remastered, Stubbs the Zombie, Plants vs Zombies: Battle for the Neighborville, and Ghost 'n Goblins Resurrections.

Also, man there was so many announcements; No More Heroes III, Tales from Borderlands, Capcom Arcade Stadium, DC Super Hero Girls: Teen Power, Knockout City, World's End Club, Samurai Warriors 5, Among Us, and Outer Wilds

I will link the entire Direct at the end. There was so much announced, that it was a little overwhelming.

I am however, going to cover the biggest 2 announcements right now.

Zelda 30th Anniversary Kicks Off With A Bang

While there is no Breath of the Wild 2 news, we did get the official announcement for Skyward Sword HD. This game looks amazing on the Switch, and the motion controls are on another level.

Last Announcement

That wasn't the biggest announcement of the night though. Oh no. Nintendo busted out their biggest announcement at the end.

Splatoon 3 is official and no body saw this coming. Nintendo's competitive FPS painting game is set to be released some time next year. Splatoon 2 was a major hit when it got ported to the Switch, and I see nothing less for this game.

What disappointed me was no Metroid Prime 4 at the event. It's been 3 years since the original announcement, and the only news we got was a switch of the development team. I have a feeling that this game may be DOA.

If you want to see the entire direct, you can check it out below.

Like I said, there was a lot of announcements. Some good, some bad. A lot of remakes and ports with not a lot of original 3rd party games. Which is very disappointing.

Sorry for the delay on this, I usually like getting these out fast, but real life was creeping up on me.

As always, this has been James with Game Fix. Game on everybody!
