Nintendo Fan Creates Ring Fit Mario Kart Exercise Bike

Throughout their history, Nintendo has always been known for their aim to innovate and approach gaming in as many unique manners as possible, and they have a track record of merging gaming with exercise. From the 2006 Wii Fit and its balance board to 2019's Ring Fit Adventure's Ring-Con, there's always an effort to try and get games to stay active while enjoying the leisure of video games.

Well, Nintendo fans can show the same type of creativity and ingenuity the company they look up to. Nintendo superfan Mike Choi, who aided in manufacturing of of the Flip Grip, a third party device that ergonomically helps the play of vertically themed screen rotation games like Crimson Clover, Punch-Out!! in the Arcade Archives, and Pinball, developed a device that combines the technology of the Ring-Con, the Joycons, and remote sensors from Nintendo Labo to create a functioning exercise bike that can Play Nintendo Switch games.

With the aid of his home created accessory TAPBO, a robotic remote device with receptive arms that holds the Joycons and presses specific buttons when receiving signals from the Ring-Con and Bike-Con prompts. The Bike-Con has sensors that picks up the pedaling and determines how fast one goes based on the momentum. The Ring-Con controls steering based on the Joycon's HD motion controls and weapons are fired by squeezing the Ring-Con inward and holding it to hang on to weapons behind you.

This project took six months for him to put together. Naturally, Choi has no intentions on selling this, as Nintendo would be very swift with the cease and desist. rather, he's using this hack as a prototype for a future project. With the recently released Nintendo Home Circuit and their experiments in STEM gaming with Labo, more interactive projects like this would very likely be something Nintendo would be encourage to cook up.
