The upsets are real.

While teams are getting more and more comfortable with each out, learning their habits, good and bad, teams are going to get naturally better working together as a unit. This is the week where it paid off. Upset, after upset, after upset. From Boston, to New York, to Philly. The three teams that were undefeated going into the week, are no longer undefeated. Boston Uprising gave London Spitfre their first loss (in one of the best games of the week), Philly Fusion gave New York Excelsior their first loss, and in return. New York Excelsior gave Seoul Dynasty their first loss (in another amazing game of the week).

Lets check the board.

There was a huge shift in just a week. While Seoul is still on top with the best map record in the league, there is actually a 3 way tie for points. We're starting to see some gaps form between top, mid, and bottom. With Shanghai way on the bottom. I am starting to see more and more teams coming together, making smarter choices, and more importantly, growing together. I'm expecting this board to change more and more every single week.

I still think that team to watch is the Fusion. Outlaws and Valiant both looked amazing this week too. Boston just surprising the hell out of everybody with their victory against London. Boston started the uprising (hah get it? Their name is uprising. God I'm so funny) which continued onto the rest of the week. I was fully expecting Seoul to be undefeated until the very end, but NYEX had other plans. Dallas finally got their first win of the season. Maybe things are changing for them?

Poor poor Shanghai.

In the News

Profit of the London Spitfire was fined $1000 dollars on Thursday for making an obscene gesture on camera. Both parties understood what was wrong, and both knew that it had no malice intend. Profit took to twitter and apologized for this actions.

Nothing else will come of it.

Also in the news, is xQc, again. As you know, Felix "xQc" Lengyel was suspended on January 19th for a code of conduct violation on his personal stream. Well, new information has emerged.

According to Seagull, another member of the Dallas Fuel, it wasn't just about the comments made on his (xQc's) personal stream. Seagull said;

“Some people said it was just because of what he said… about Muma but it’s not, it’s a lot of other stuff, internal stuff, stuff I’m not gonna talk about, but yeah that’s why the punishment is harsh.”

It is also rumored that the rest of Dallas Fuel do not want xQc there watching while they are playing their matches. They claim that he is a distraction for them, and would rather him watch from the back room.

More Dallas Fuel news, but this time its actually good news. Mike Rufali, CEO to the Dallas Fuel announced on Saturday that the Fuel has acquired Dylan "aKm" Bignet. aKm is a former member of the Apex team "Rogue" and is known for his skills on Soldier 76 and McCree. This could be a huge pick up for the Dallas team. Pairing him with Effect, who is also an amazing McCree player, could be a nightmare to any Pharah player. This now moves Seagull to a more flex position, a position where he is more comfortable.

Last bit of the news. Jeff Kaplan is in talks with the Toronto esport league to possibly bring a Toronto based team into the Overwatch league. We already have 13 teams, Chicago being the 13th team but was put on hold for this season, could Toronto being the 14th team? Well that didn't stop some people on reddit for posting a concept of what the team could possibly be.

Toronto Tempest has a nice ring to it, and that Pharah skin looks amazing. We will see guys. Maybe next season?

Thats it for me.

And as always, this is James with Game Fix. Game on everybody!
