In a year full of blundering catastrophes in video game development (that includes Balan Wonderworld, a game that went according to plan), but perhaps none creating more of a spectacle than The Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Edition throughout 2021. Muddied textures, graphical clipping, and hilariously warped character models make it just as amusing as it is frustrating, as fans were left in an uproar over the mishandling of a series of games that meant a lot for a generation.
The game has received patches since to fix many of the issues. Perhaps as something to make by customers who purchased the PC port, Rockstar has offered a free PC product for meeting qualifications directly from the Rockstar Store as a "Holiday Bonus Offer" that will be available until January 6th 2022. The free games offered are:
Grand Theft Auto V: Premium Edition
Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition
Max Payne 3
L.A. Noire
Bully: Scholarship Edition
A Great White Shark Cash Card for GTA Online
55 Gold Bars for Red Dead Online
According to the Rockstar Store's FAQ page, the console versions of GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition do not qualify for this offer.
A highly anticipated release from Rockstar, in just under a month after hitting the market, the collection would go on to become the worst reviewed high profile video game on Metacritic for 2021, beating the very criticized Battlefield 2042.
