Sad news to report this afternoon.

Long time president of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, has announced that he is stepping down effective April 15. He is said to be replaced by marketing man Doug Bowser (insert Bowser jokes here).

Reggie has been the face of Nintendo of America for 15 years. Every event, every Direct. He was an iconic personality in an industry of suits. His kind words and smiling face were always a joy to see. Nintendo is known for their very robotic personalities and Reggie was the person who broke that mold. Always out going and always charismatic.

In a video posted to Twitter, he gave his good byes. One of many I'm sure. He notes that he is leaving to be with friends and family, but why so suddenly? Our own Spanish believes it might be something else to the story.

"I believe he is leaving for medical reasons. We haven't seen him in awhile. There has been a few Nintendo Directs, and no Reggie. He is always on Directs talking about stuff that is coming out. To not see him for this long and now this? Something isn't right and there may be something else to this perhaps (heaven forbid) a sickness. I hope not."

I personally think there might be something else here, since the person who is replacing him is in marketing.

You can hear Reggie's on words down below.

You are going to be missed Reggie.
