REPORT: Sony To Make Days Gone Into A Movie, Adapted By Sheldon Turner

As reported by Deadline, PlayStation Productions has plans to move forward with a live action film adaptation to their 2019 survival-horror exclusive Days Gone. This will expand upon the brand's intention to broaden more into multimedia, following the success of the 2022 movie Uncharted, starring Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland. A PlayStation cinematic universe, if you will.

According to the report, heading the project will be screen writer Sheldon Turner (X-Men: First Class, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning). Scottish actor and star of the Starz series Outlander, Sam Heughan, may be playing the role of the protagonist, the former member of a motorcyle club Deacon St. John, who is on a mission to find Sarah, his presumed dead wife. Turner's script is reported to be "a love ballad to motorcycle movies", which is fitting, given how integral a part Deacon's motorcycle plays in the game. It's his sole means of transportation, and requires a great deal of attention and maintenance.

While Days Gone wasn't greenlighted for a sequel, it was a financial success, selling over 9 million copies for the PlayStaion 4, and studio Bend has been tasked with developing a new intellectual property. Critical reception to Days Gone was mostly positive, but the reviews weren't overly glowing. Many praised the concept of the Horde and the Freakers (Days Gone's resident zombies or "infected"), but much of the criticism was aimed towards the bugs and glitches.
