RUMOR: Industry Insiders Tease A Possible Dead Space Comeback

Ever since Electronic Arts announced the closure of Visceral Games in 2017, fans of the Dead Space series have cast their hopes of a revival into the dark, cold void that's as vast and empty as space itself. There may be some promising news afoot. According to a series of exchanges between Xbox Era's Nick Baker and Jez Corden from Windows Central on Twitter, it could be possible that they're teasing the idea of a franchise return.

On June 4th, Nick tweets: You know, the more I’ve been thinking about it, the more I think Dead Space has a chance of coming back in some way. Whether via Remasters or a sequel. Or hopefully both.

To which Jez replies "That WOULD BE PRETTY COOL WOULDN'T IT NICK? You know. If it was ACTUALLY HAPPENING MAYBE? That would be PRETTY COOL"

It could be possible that Jez's tweet was in jest, in a later reply.

Certainly this is nothing that can prove to be confirmation of any kind of work on the books. However, with E3 around the corner here in June, there's a chance anything is possible. Electronic Arts released the Mass Effect Legendary Edition earlier in May, and its reception has been largely positive. It could encourage EA to test the waters for engagement by producing a similar remastered trilogy to see if fan interest would pursue development on a fourth mainline game or a reimagining of the franchise.

Dead Space 3, the last in the series, was released in 2013, and poor sales have placed ice on Electronic Arts handing the reigns to a different development team.
