It appears that support for Mortal Kombat 1 may be wrapping up sooner than anticipated, leaving the fighting game's future with questions. As reported by InsiderGaming.com, according to _FateUnknown_, a known MK leaker who has been a credible source in the past, stated on Reddit that NetherRealm may be cancelling planned content.
This decision comes based on the Kombat Pack 2 selling very poorly. In a part of the leaked conversation, when asked if there was going to be a Kombat Pack 3, they replied "No."

Mortal Kombat 1's Kombat Pack 2 was initially leaked in June, and ended up being spot on with the information. Sektor, Cyrax, and Noob Saibot, along with guest characters Ghostface, the T-1000, and Conan the Barbarian. The road may be bleak, but release dates for T-1000 and Conan are still down the road. Whether or not that salvages any consumer good will, that will be determined. It appears that all that may remain are some Kameos that are practically done, according to the Reddit thread.
The previous entry, Mortal Kombat 11, had two Kombat Packs before wrapping up. The same process was for the extra content for Mortal Kombat X. Chances are, this could just be the game's cycle coming to a close, as NeatherRealm's fighters seldom have additional roster content, balance patches and maintenance aside, that has gone beyond more than several years. Mortal Kombat was a property Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav put his vote of confidence in as a lucrative entity in gaming.
