Server Issues Have Rendered Gran Turismo 7 Mostly Unplayable

While the reviews regarding Gran Turismo 7's gameplay have been largely positive, the PlayStation exclusive racer has seen some issues that are beginning to change to public perception on its design. Recently, the developer have rolled out GT7's downloadable content format and details show that unless the player intends to spend countless hours grinding for Credits, the cost for unlockable cars are priced very high, with some cars valued at $200.00USD, leading to a great deal of backlash.

Even more criticism is now directed at the game, being that as of this writing, people might be unable to even PLAY Gran Turismo 7. According to Video Games Chronicle, a recent update has caused extended server maintenance issues that has left the game unplayable for roughly 10 hours.

After a 24 hour period, the game is now live.

"Due to an issue found in Update 1.07, we will be extending the Server Maintenance period. We will notify everyone as soon as possible when this is likely to be completed. We apologize for this inconvenience and ask for your patience while we work to resolve the issue."

In a really short amount of time, Gran Turismo 7 has burned a lot of good will with the community, as a constant internet connection is required to prevent cheating, as per the words of Ployphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi. Without an online connection, solo mode only leaves you with 13 preselect cars and 4 modes: Single Race, Time Trial, Drift Trial, and Music Rally. Some games can prove to turn themselves around after fumbling a launch due to issues in and out of their control. For a $70(USD) price tag, it's asking a lot for the community to "hope" a premium AAA game rights its own ship.

Updated 3-20-2022, to inform that Gran Turismo 7 server maintenance is finished, and the game is back up
