For the longest time, fans of Konami's psychological horror franchise have been hoping for a new game in the series. We have reported over the last year or so about fairly solid sources indicating a return of Silent Hill is imminent, though nothing has been officially revealed. Konami has been very tight-lipped about the workings.

According to a report by VideoGamesChronicle, during an interview with French director Christophe Gans (which was translated by ResetEra), who directed the 2006 Silent Hill movie, has clarified that Koanmi has, not just one, but several Silent Hill projects lined up. According to sources, Gans is also pinned on writing a script for a third Silent Hill movie, based on a report from the French gaming website Jeux Video.

“I’m working with the Silent Team, the original creators at Konami, there are several games in development as we speak, there are several teams on it, with a big line of games, they will revive the franchise, I think they were really impressed of the success of the remakes of Resident Evil that are evidently exceptional games.”

As previously mentioned, details throughout the last year have indicated Konami not only has shown interest in getting back into mainline game development, but breathing life into their beloved, yet dormant franchises. Feelings are still strong seven years after the firing of Hideo Kojima effectively tossed the Silent Hills project P.T. into the ether.

An interview Silent Hill veteran composer Akira Yamaoka was removed from YouTube, as he might've let some details slip about a new Silent Hill project, stating  "You'll probably hear something this summer to be announced. I think it's the one you're kinda hoping to hear about." Coincidentally, Yamaoka lent his talents to the Bloober Team puzzle/horror game The Medium.

Reports have also indicated that Bloober Team is working on one of the Silent Hill games along with Konami. With one of the games speculated at being a remake of Silent Hill 2, whether the Bloober Team game is a brand new entry or the staff is tasked with building 2 from the ground up remains to be devulged. Konami backed out of the E3 2021 digital live event to further ready their projects to showcase, with a date yet to be determined for reveals. Perhaps this year's Game Awards?

The last mainline Silent Hill release is 2012's Silent Hill Downpour.
