Slight Street Fighter 6 Details Included In Leaked Capcom Files

Street Fighter 6 has been speculated to be in development for some time now, even with no official word from Capcom. Street Fighter V Champion Edition's season 5 wasn't necessarily supposed to come to fruition, but internal disagreements within Capcom over the build of Street Fighter 6 and its direction lead it to be scrapped, as its initial announcement was supposed to be next year. Those within the fighting game community believe this was the final straw for Yoshinori Ono's tenure, as a makeshift fifth season was ushered in to buy developers more time to polish a proper vision for the next installment.

While the latest entry in Capcom's flagship franchise has not been revealed, some data leaks that recently surfaced, while not containing anything incredibly paramount, references to Street Fighter are mentioned, codenamed CAPCOM_6

Included in these findings are info pertaining that Street Fighter 6 will be multiplatform, bringing it to the Xbox Series X and Xbox One.

While Street Fighter V's mechanics, preferably the V-System, were considered polarizing for lowering the skill ceiling of the game to aim for a more casual appeal, the PlayStation 4 console exclusivity limited outreach and an inability to reach the level of success Street Fighter IV had in terms of lifetime sales. 4.5 million units sold worldwide is nothing to scoff at, especially for a fighting game, it's taken four years to reach half of SFIV's 9 million plus across all platforms.

With a new director at the helm, fans are certainly champing at the bit to find out when an actual announcement it due. In the meantime, Dan Hibiki is the next character coming to Street Fighter V to kick off its fifth and final season, followed by Rose, Oro, Rival Schools' Akira Kazama, and a fifth unannounced character. No release date has been given as of press time.

The images on Twitter were DCMA claimed by Capcom, and were the names of zipped folder files, though this does add legitimacy to the leaks. The info was regarding the progression of 3D modelling.
