Last night was the 2021 Overwatch League Grand Finals which saw the Shanghai Dragons sweep the Atlanta Reign to win. Shanghai claims $1.5 million in prize money and will have a legendary skin created in honor of their victory.

This victory is double fine for the Shanghai team considering the inaugural season of the Overwatch League. They broke the record for the most losses in a single season and ended up finishing the season 0-40.

While Shanghai was getting some wins, Blizzard had some Overwatch 2 news for us. No, it's not a release date, even though recent reports are suggesting that Blizzard is targeting a Q2 2022 release date, we still haven't gotten an official confirmation on this yet.

Nope, the news was complete reworks for two different characters - Sombra and Bastion.

The hat isn't the only thing they changed for Bastion.

Bastion Changes Coming To Overwatch 2

  • Move while in sentry form
  • New Ultimate: Artillery Strike
  • New Ability: Tactical Grenade
  • Ability Removed: Self Repair

I think the Bastion changes look amazing. Him not having a self-heal anymore means he can no longer tank (hah pun!) damage for his team. The new ultimate looks fantastic and actually makes sense with his overall kit. I am not sure how I feel about his being able to move around in sentry form though.

Sombra Changes Coming To Overwatch 2

  • Hacked targets can be seen through walls
  • Hack no longer removes stealth
  • Hack cooldown reduced
  • Deal more damage to hacked targets

A lot of the biggest complaints with Sombra was that she made it feel like you couldn't play the game. Her hacking was way too good, and sometimes just removed players from the game. I understand that, and it appears that that the Overwatch team did also. As a Sombra player, I like her changes. She is still going to be effective in removing a player from combat, but it's not going to feel so oppressive to that player. Her new passive is going to allow her to finish her targets without having to rely on her team as much and the fact that her ultimate no longer removes all shields is going to make it is no longer just a free removal ability.

All in all, I am pretty happy with these changes. The Sombra rework had to happen since there is going to be only one tank player now. If she kept bullying the only shield on the team, then it wasn't going to make for a fun match.

Let's hope the rest of the changes are going to be as exciting as these.

As always, this has been James with Game Fix. Game on everybody!
