Sources Confirm Telltale Games Shutting Down

It was reported last year that Telltale Games, makers of many narrative adventure games, laid off 90 employees due to years of mismanagement.

It is being reported today that Telltale Games is closing its doors for good according to multiple sources. The former employees have taken to social media exclaiming that they do not have jobs any more.

Telltale was created in 2004 by former LucasArts employees. Its first game "Telltale Texas Hold'em" was a poker simulator that was released under the radar. They didn't really get big until 2012 when they release of "The Walking Dead". From there they blew up, releasing more games under different licenses, including "Minecraft" and "Batman".

With their success came some blow back. Reports of work place drama and unfair work conditions lead to then CEO Bruner, who was also one of the original founders, to step down and was replaced by Pete Hawley who was former VP at Zynga Games. After 90 people were laid off and a 2 year negotiation, they secured the rights to create a game based off of the hit Netflix show, "Stranger Things".

That has has since been cancelled by the company along with "The Wolf Among Us 2".

In August they released "The Walking Dead: The Final Season" with the second part of that game being released September 25th. That is still going as planned, and might be their last game release.

It is also being reported that employees laid off today, will not get a severance package.

I personally am not a fan of their games, but its always sad to see a well liked developer shut down. From us here at Game Fix, we wish those people good luck in the future.

This has been James with Game Fix, delivering very unfortunate news.
