Street Fighter 6 details will be rolled out later this summer, but Street Fighter V: Champion Edition still has one final face to put on for its swan song. The highly anticipated last update for SFVCE offers a few tweaks to the playable characters and some bonus additions that will be available later this month. The new updates heading to the game are:
New Balance Battle Update
Cel-Shading Filter
Pixel Filter
New Colors For Tracksuit
CAP-JAMS In-Game Remix Themes
I'm a very big fan of cel-shading, and that look does the character models in Street Fighter V wonders. It's only in offline mode, much I understand. SFV's online issues have plagued the game since its launch, and attempting to accommodate an animation filter would throw CFN into DEFCON-2. It'll look great for EVO and in-person tourneys, at the very least. The pixel shading, I don't quite care for that one, it looks a little disorienting. Never understood this attempt at adding retro style filters to games that can be broadcast in high resolutions, but I digress.
With the addition of Luke Sullivan back in November of 2021, that completed Street Fighter V's roster at 45. While certain things that were teased like follow-up content to the cinematic story The Shadow Falls, never became a reality, the development team has done a more than commendable job in improving SFV from the bare bones title it was at launch to a pretty robust and solid fighter that it is today.
