It's one thing to see Lloyd Kaufman's creation, twisted and foul dark superhero comedy Toxic Avenger, get a children's television show and an expansive toyline in the late 80's, going into the 90's. Toxie also had several video games on multiple platforms back in the day. What if I told you that the same children's television show, The Toxic Crusaders, was coming back as a new action beat'em up? 

From Retroware Studios (producers of The Angry Video Game Nerd games, Eagle Island Twist, and Iron Meat) comes this new brawler in the same vein as 2022's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. Join Toxie, Nozone, Major Disaster, Headbanger, Vyonne, Mrs. Junko, and Junkyard as you work to clean up the mean, filthy streets of Tromaville. It can currently be added to your Steam wishlist.

The Toxic Crusaders was a cartoon that ran for one season, a total of 13 episodes in 1991. Much like Captain Planet & The Planeteers, it carried an environmental message, but with a more absurd tone, and of course not carrying the dark themes and ultra-violence of the film series.
