This is kinda huge.
Announced today, and right out of left field, Sony and Microsoft are partnering up. Yeah I was caught off guard by this also. What does the new partnership entail?
They both want to enhance customer's experiences in a new "direct-to-consumer" entertainment platform that will use the power of the cloud to bring games directly to consumers. Oh, it's going to use the new Microsoft Azure cloud based service.
Both companies will also be collaborating on new AI and semiconductors. The AI is going to be used on a new intelligent image sensors that will integrate with Sony's already cutting-edge image sensors. They want to provide an "intuitive and user friendly AI experience".
Now mind you, neither the Xbox or the Playstation was mentioned at all in the press release. It does say "entertainment platforms", and we are all just kind of assuming. This could go a completely different direction. We don't know. MS did say that more details will be released at a later date.
Is this one step away from gaming nirvana? Probably not, but a boy can dream.
As always this has been James with Game Fix. Game on everybody!
