Major brands are still looking to bolster their library of game developers, or aiming to have a strong investment in gaming ventures, and one studio that has been in and out of those talks has been UbiSoft. The publisher behind the Far Cry and Assassin's Creed series has seen some recent interest from private companies, according to a report from Bloomberg, and talks have only recently begun. Some of the names involved in possible discussions include investor company Blackstone and equity group KKR. As the report goes, these firms are "studying" UbiSoft before strong potential plans go forward. BlackStone, UbiSoft, and KKR have not made any comments regarding the matter as of this writing.

"Deliberations are at an early stage, and there's no certainty any of the suitors will proceed with offers," spoke Bloomberg. UbiSoft's stock has gone up 11% amidst the interest in a buyout.

A spokesperson, in an interview with GameSpot, talked about UbiSoft's prospects and viable contributions in the industry.

"Ubisoft has unmatched creative and production capacities, with more than 20,000 talented people collaborating across our global studios on game development. Thanks to them and to our long-term approach and appetite for taking creative risks, we have built some of the industry's strongest proprietary brands and have many promising new brands and projects on the horizon."

UbiSoft, similar to Activision Blizzard, remains in the midst of many allegations of employee harassment, misconduct, and abuse, leading to the departure of staffers and programmers, as the culture around game development remains poisonous. Perhaps one of the larger reasons the company has been hesitant for acquisition.
