Universal Studios Japan And Super Nintendo World Shutting Down Operations Temporarily

Japan's Super Nintendo World has ceased operations a little more a month into its grand opening March 18th. The Universal Studios Japan park has announced its closure due to the state of emergency for Osaka prefecture. A rise in Coronavirus cases caused concern from the government, Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga called for the western prefectures, which include Kyoto and Hyogo to curb a rise in cases for the upcoming Golden Week holidays.

This is not the first time the park has been closed. Last year there was a temporary closure from February 29th to June 7 2020 in efforts to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.

"Today, Universal Studios Japan has decided to temporarily close our park due to the substantial business shutdown request to operate with no spectators which was issued under the state of emergency for Osaka prefecture. The temporary closure will start from April 25th, 2021 and remain until the request has been lifted."

The park issued an apology for customers who already purchased tickets, and have instructions on their site for how to address those concerns. A window date for reopening has not been offered as of press time.
