Upcoming RiffTrax Video Game Lets You Rip Into Old Movies, Ala Mystery Science Theater 3000

RiffTrax, created by the legends behind Mystery Science Theater 3000 (and my personal comedy heroes), is now bringing the scathing lines from cinema to the world of video games. RiffTrax The Game is a multiplayer party game that will have players compete to make horrible movies funny. The game will boast over 250 clips from cinema's most horrid works, such as Attack Of The Supermonsters, Rollergator, and the legendary Plan 9 From Outer Space.

RiffTrax The Game will boast over 2,000 riffs written by the RiffTrax team of Michael J. Nelson, Bill Corbett, Kevin Murphy, and others to select from. You also have the play style of coming up with your own quips. Your words you write come to life through text-to-speech! Up to 6 players can join in using ANY internet connected device as a controller, and 12 additional party members can play along.

If this formula sounds familiar, it's practically the party game What The Dub!?, developed by Wide Right Interactive. Twitch chat integration will be added, giving viewers a further way to engage and be a part of the showing, along with extra moderation and content tools.

RiffTrax was founded in 2007 by Mike Nelson and Legend Films, and other former MST3K alumni like Mary Jo Pehl and Bridget Jones Nelson have been brought on as writers and have appeared to provide riffing for movies like Gravity, The Avengers, and Inception. As of 2022, they have provided commentary tracks for 460 feature films, 410 shorts, and 16 TV episodes. The crew also has their hand in riffing some video game movies, like Street Fighter, the Super Mario Bros. movie, and Mortal Kombat

RiffTrax: The Game will be available May 5th, 2022 for the Nintendo Switch, Steam, and PlayStation and Xbox family of consoles.
